Cost Accountant

Responsibilities:

Gather and compile cost information, maintaining a database concerning expenses. Review and maintain production Bill of Materials (BOM), run times, and overhead rates. Ensure the accuracy of standard costs. Predict, plan, and record variable costs such as purchases of raw materials, labor, and operational costs. Conduct variance analysis comparing actuals to forecast to budget. Prepare necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports. Review, analyze, and report actual profit margins. Assist with month-end and year-end closings. Support internal and external financial and tax audits. Determine and recommend cost-effective solutions. Provide product sample costs for Marketing and General Accounting. Assist with Fixed Asset Management. Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements. Conduct regular balance sheet reconciliations. Serve as backup for general accounting and cash transactions. Serve as backup for payroll and time & attendance. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel. Experience with Microsoft Business Central a plus. Thorough understanding of accounting procedures. Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required. 3 to 5 years of experience in cost accounting required. Experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
